Clinician partnerships
We're proud to partner with the following local clinicians who are available to see clients at our current counseling space within Crossroads United Methodist Church.

Edward Schum, Resident-in-Counseling
Edward holds a B.A. in Cultural Studies from Eugene Lang College and an M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The Chicago School of Psychology. Edward's theoretical approach is integrative and tailored to the client and their concerns, and it is also largely person-centered which involves fostering an atmosphere of empathy, non-judgement, unconditional positive regard, and congruence.
Edward believes that the relationship between therapist and client is of the utmost importance as it provides a relational context for the client to heal within, so part of Edward's approach to therapy involves cultivating a therapeutic relationship between therapist and client that facilitates trust, and that feels warm, caring, and free of judgement. Edward also draws from cognitive behavioral theory which involves therapist and client working together to identify, explore, and challenge rigid or maladaptive thoughts and beliefs that are causing difficulties for the client.
Edward believes that working together to understand the ways that past experiences have shaped who we are today can help us to find meaning and the potential for growth in our suffering, and can allow us greater freedom to choose how we want to live our lives moving forward.
Edward is available to see individuals on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 1pm - 7pm.

About Me
Therapy is a unique experience for each client, and knowing this, I dedicate and specifically tailor my treatment to meet each client’s specific goals. For all clients, I believe in attending to and attuning to the mind-body connection, gaining deeper self-awareness and understanding to facilitate and support change. My mind-body connection is “issues can remain in our tissues!” My Latin heritage and ties to the Latino culture are important parts of my identity, and I am bilingual/bicultural in Spanish/English.
I use different treatment modalities to connect and work with individuals and couples. I have specialized and advanced training in play therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, trauma focused work such as EMDR, mindfulness, meditation, energy healing work including reiki and integrative energy therapy. I offer support and gentle guidance around a variety of issues including child behavioral challenges, anxiety, depression, grief/loss, self-care, ADHD, life transitions, adjusting to parenthood, and overall wellness. I provide a comforting space and peaceful, warmth presence to continue your meaningful journey towards tranquility.
In my work with families, I have found couples therapy is another powerful way to approach difficult discussions, create deeper meaning, and strengthen connection between partners. My multifaceted approach to couples therapy helps alleviate symptoms of tension and conflict while working to live a more fulfilling life together. My ultimate approach is for each person to find peace and tranquility in a busy world, and I am thrilled to be partnering with Wellness Loudoun to further support the community!

About Me
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, unmotivated, or just need a safe space to process life’s challenges, I’m here for you. I believe that at our core, we all long to be heard, understood, respected, and validated. My approach is compassionate and collaborative—I work to create a supportive environment where you can explore your thoughts and feelings without judgment.
I specialize in helping individuals navigate anxiety, stress, co-dependency, life transitions, and relational trauma. No matter where you are on your journey, you don’t have to face it alone. I’m here to walk alongside you every step of the way.
I believe that a strong, trusting connection is key to therapeutic success. My role is to support you in making meaningful changes by meeting you where you are and helping you tap into your own strengths, values, and self-awareness to guide your growth. Whether you're navigating identity shifts, emotional struggles, or daily stress, I offer a safe space where you can feel seen, supported, and empowered.
I earned my MSW from the University of Oklahoma and currently work in a group practice, serving clients in Virginia (both in person and via telehealth) as well as in Hawaii via telehealth. Outside of therapy, I enjoy spending time with my family, relaxing at the beach, staying active, traveling, and getting lost in a good book.
