About the event
This hour-long interactive workshop equips parents, educators, and caregivers with tools to identify and respond to early signs of possible depression in children and adolescents. Participants will learn how to create safe spaces for open conversations, use age-appropriate language to explore feelings, and avoid common pitfalls that can prevent adequate communication. This session will utilize real-life examples, discussion, and allow time for questions. Attendees will ultimately gain confidence in starting conversations with elementary, middle, and high school students who may be struggling and learn when to seek help.
The session emphasizes age appropriate validating communication that allows children to share their experiences without fear of judgment. Participants will leave with a clear set of conversation starters, strategies for fostering trust, and guidance on when and how to connect children with professional support.
