About the event
This four-class series guides participants to make the critical connection between diet and the risk of developing various forms of cancer. With a focus on low-fat plant-based nutrition, participants develop an understanding of specific foods and nutrients that either promote or discourage cancer development. Each class features a cooking demonstration of delicious, health-promoting dishes, along with handouts of delicious recipes participants can prepare at home.
Intended audience: individuals looking to prevent cancer, and survivors, their family and friends. Classes are not meant for individuals currently undergoing cancer treatment.
Dietary fat can suppress immune function and drive hormone production linked to higher rates of hormone-related cancers like breast and prostate cancer. Fiber, on the other hand, helps your body clear out toxins, excess hormones, cholesterol, and other waste. In this class, learn to prepare delicious, low-fat dishes using whole grains, legumes, vegetables, and fruit.
